Experience Architect

About the role

The Experience Architect plays an integral role in the development of our client’s web sites. The EA will work closely with all in-house teams involved in the web development process. EA will contribute to the planning process of a web site by organizing information, developing web site architectures, documenting use case scenarios, and developing labeling/search systems.

Responsabilities

  • Reviewing research on competitive web sites, existing web initiatives, past web projects, and consumer research
  • Synthesize research findings to aid the project team developing the web site architecture
  • Collaborating with / facilitating project team members and clients to develop organizational / structural concepts for web site projects
  • Translating these concepts into effective information architectures
  • Developing plans that production teams can use to help guide their work
  • Collaborating on the development of labeling searching systems
  • Preparing EA documentation (site architectures, wire frames, use cases and task flows, etc.) to be used by the production team
  • Ensuring EA documentation is continuously updated and distributed to the production team
  • Identifying and implementing opportunities to refine EA process
  • Providing guidance, leadership and support to other information architects and to project teams at large

Required skills

  • Related industry experience in new media, communications, or library science
  • Internet experience within the areas of information architecture or project management is an asset
  • A demonstrated understanding of / commitment to a career in information architecture
  • Ability to take a creative approach to problem solving
  • An understanding of / experience with
  • Development of organizational / structural concepts for web sites
  • Processes for the development of large scale web site projects
  • Documentation requirements for web development teams (including applications and web development groups)
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary and collaborative environments
  • Experience applying research and analysis to site development
  • Effective communication skills, both orally and in a variety of written forms
  • Team player with effective interpersonal skills
  • Thorough, detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
  • Self-motivated and dedicated with a desire to learn
  • Highly proficient in the use of MS Office, Visio and Internet browsers
  • Individuals with varied backgrounds and unique personal and work experiences will thrive in an information architecture role
  • Proven client relations skills
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with multidisciplinary backgrounds such as psychology, computer science,information sciences, commerce/business
  • Experience with one of either:
  • Software Development Process / Business Analysis (specifically use case development and methodology)
  • Usability Practices / Testing
  • IA development for sites employing personalization
